NC-2009 SSc4.2:Alternative Transportation—Bicycle Storage and Changing Rooms

Serving all occupants

I am building a new tower right next to an old tower, connected by an existing parking garage. Our LEED boundary is just the new construction. We are adding a fitness center with showers to this new building, and provide enough bike storage and showers to achieve point compliance for the new building occupants. The existing building has it's own fitness center and bike storage already. Does the owner need to specifically create a policy (documentation) that the new building fitness center is only available to the NC occupants in order to comply with this credit?

I think you have two options: a) designate one fitness center for one building and one for another, or b) document that the two centers together have enough capacity to meet LEED requirements for both buildings. That way you ensure that there will be room for everyone in the LEED building according to LEED standards.
