Kelsi, The species, density and microclimate factors are taken directly from Table 1 - Landscape Factors on page 185 of the BD+C reference guide. Don't over think these values, which is really easy to do. For the species factor, ask yourself generally speaking how much water does this plant type require? As an example, cool season turf - such as fescue - requires a good bit of water, and I will generally select the average or high species factor listed on the table depending on the location of my project. Conversely, warm season turf - such as bermuda - requires less water. For this type of turf, I would generally select a low or average species factor for turf grass from the table. I hope that helps.
