NC-2009 SSc5.1:Site Development—Protect or Restore Habitat

Definition of limited landscape opportunities

I've checked the BD+C and O+M Reference Guides, the Addenda database, the v04 and v06 forms, and this forum to try and locate a definition for the "limited landscape opportunities" in relation to the 2010 Correction ID #100000737(http://www.usgbc.org/content/ad-100000737). The previous v04 form did not address this option; however, the new v06 form includes this option but doesn't mention "limited landscape opportunities." Does anyone have any insight on what USGBC is considering limited landscape opportunities? Or has anyone had this option rejected on the basis of having too much landscaping?

Here is the response I got from LEED Coach at USGBC in response to my question above: "There is not a published definition to reference, instead the GBCI takes a case by case approach. If you have a specific project site in mind, we would encourage you to submit a CIR explaining the site situation and how it might be considered a limited landscape. Examples that would qualify could include zero lot line scenarios, area that is programmed for other required uses (energy generation, paved area, etc), easements, area outside of their control (by the local jurisdiction or otherwise), etc. It may be worth noting that this criteria of limited landscaping is not in LEED BD+C: Retail but still allows donation to the land trust."
