Pilot-Credits EQpc123:Designing with Nature, Biophilic Design for the Indoor Environment

Designing with Nature - Stone indoor finishes

Currently we are working in a LEED project which we are pursuing this pilot credit of Designing with Nature, and we are wondering if natural stone vertical finishes on main indoor walls could be one of the five strategies?

We understand that these elements could be a connection with nature as textured materials, to create a distinct sense of place through natural materials.

Thanks in advantage.

Yes, this should be sufficient as a strategy. We've referenced the following language    Natural Analogues Patterns Strategy 2: Material Connection with Nature Materials and elements from nature that, through minimal processing, reflect the local ecology or geology and create a distinct sense of place.   According to 14 Patterns of Biophilic Design, natural materials are shown to promote creativity after exposure to the color green as well as comfort in “a room with a moderate ratio of wood”. As recommended in 14 Patterns of Biophilic Design, the Design Standard utilizes a diversity of natural material through an assortment of plant, wood, and stone applications with the intention of providing building occupants cognitive and psychological benefits from material connection with nature, juxtaposing the office environment of technological tools.
