Green Bike Station

Is there any advantage if the project locates a Green Bike Station (from where bikes could be rented) within the vicinity of the project (even if it is not within 200 yards)? Does it help to satisfy this credit in any way? I would guess no, but wanted to confirm.

I don't think a bike rental station helps with this credit. Not unless you find some way to calculate some % of bike users as using the rental station, and get a LEED Interpretation approving this.

We had a project where we were lacking 1 bike storage space, but had a bike rental station by the project building that was accepted as a supplement for the missing storage space. The key for us was that the rentals were available to our building occupants and visitors only via a membership, and not the general public. I doubt that an project in an urban location with a bike rental station available to everyone would be able to claim the benefit in general.
