Tell FEMA: Climate Change is Real

Dear Colleagues:

This is a request from AIA COTE Advocacy to sign another petition on behalf of your firm. I know it's incomprehensible that we have to do this, but we at AIA COTE Advocacy think the US Federal Emergency Management Agency's removal of the term "climate change" from all their strategic planning documents is evidence of an unacceptable level of politicization in government agencies that should be our partners in resilient planning and design for adaptation. We also want the AIA Government Relations staff to see the strength of our network by - again - collecting hundreds of signatures in two weeks. Can you help? A link is below. Thank you!! - Mike

Hello, I am curious as to what happened with this great advocacy initiative. Did the petition get sent to FEMA? Was there any reaction? We signed the petition online, (even though DIALOG is a mostly-Canadian firm, we now have an office in San Francisco and are thus members of the AIA).  Cheers, Esteban Esteban Matheus Architect AIBC MAIN 604.255.1169 DIRECT     604.909.1605 DIALOG dialogdesign.ca

Hey, folks: Thanks to all your help, about 640 firms signed the petition. AIA Government Relations was (of course) blown away (again) by the scope and strength of our network. It was delivered to FEMA's offices last week. I have a conference call with the AIA COTE Advocacy task force and AIA Government Affairs senior staff on June 5. I will report back on what the response was and our next steps. And . . . THANK YOU!! - Mike
